Indiana Jones Gear On The Cheap - The Indy Fan's Guide To Gear on A Shoestring Budget

For my faithful readers, I wanted to share with you what the cost would be of putting together an almost complete and authentic Indy costume. Will you be donning the outfit the day the film is released in theaters? Time will tell for me. Okay, so here's the rundown in case you were ever wondering -- minus a couple of very expensive details. This is the guide to getting Indy gear or something very close for not a lot of moolah.

Indy Hat - Prices can range from $35 to $495 depending on your source (eBay or something more official. Plus quality does matter here. But truth be told, you can get an accurate hat for about $105 from Village Hat Shop.

David Morgan makes a great non-branded model. Straight from Austrailia: the original inspiration $125

Shoulder Bag - eBay will get you a nice version. In short, it's an adapted WWII Brittish gas mask. A similar version will cost you somewhere in the camp of $35 depending on shipping. You can add the leather straps on your own.

Indy Boot - The real replica boot you can find at Alden Shoes, England. There, you're looking at a hefty price tag of $320 for the boots. Some nice alternatives include Katahdin Iron Works Engineer Boots from LL Bean ($150) or Red Wing's 9011 - Mens - Gentleman Traveler (cost unknown)

Safari Shirt - The shirt is a light-khaki color with a unique pleat running down each side of the lapel. Made of cotton. Relatively wide collar. An official one would cost upwards of $80 from Wested Leather Company. See below. But a quick stop by Cabela's will get you a lot more for the money.

Indy Pants - To be 100% honest, everything I've read and seen tells me that the pants are fairly normal. Pretty easy to come by, really. While the actual movie-authenticated pair is around a hundred bucks, LL Bean offers a nice $49 solution. Chances are, the pair is already in my closet!
